The membership year begins on July 1. Full members may participate in seminars, special programs and summer/winter programs (some of which may carry a cost) and various other activities through the year. They will receive all publications and are entitled to vote in annual elections, join a committee, and receive a membership card which provides borrowing privileges at the libraries of the five colleges.

LIR has four different types of membership with varying costs:

$115	First-Time Spring Semester Membership	All seminars, special programs, publications, voting rights, committees, first-year lottery preference*
$75 fall; $75 spring	Trial Membership—one time only, spring or fall	All seminars, special programs, publications; No voting rights, no lottery preference*
$50 year	Associate Membership—available only to former full-time members	Special programs, mailings and publications only; No seminars, no voting rights;

*Lottery Preference: Priority is given when a “first-choice” seminar is over-subscribed and subject to lottery.

Membership Assistance Fund: The Membership Assistance Fund makes LIR membership available to everyone. It is funded by generous donations from fellow members.
